David Ballard, LCSW
Chief Executive Officer

David Ballard is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years first-hand experience primarily in the field of children’s services, mental health and out-of-home care.  He began his career as a child care worker in a group home in Los Angeles and held numerous managerial and administrative positions in the Los Angeles area prior to moving to Sacramento.  Holding a Bachelors degree in Sociology from California State University at Northridge and a Masters in Social Welfare from UCLA, Ballard has been the CEO of the Children’s Receiving Home since 1996. After 15 years of service to the Receiving Home, he continues to guide the agency as a respected and accomplished leader.

After 30 years in the field, he has served as a board member to several community councils and received numerous awards acknowledging his service to the community. Currently, David is Chair of the Sacramento County Children’s Coalition; an Executive Committee Member for the Family Support Collaborative; a member of the Rotary Club of Sacramento; Vice Chair to the Human Services Coordinating Council; Board Member of the North State Representative, California Alliance of Child & Family Services; and current Community Advisor to the Junior League of Sacramento. 

Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with family and, as a history buff, enjoys furthering his knowledge via books and film.
