Front Desk Information Counselor – On Call

Position Summary:

We are currently accepting applications for a on call Front Desk Information Counselor.

The Front Desk Information Counselor is responsible for directing all incoming inquiries, greeting guests, donors and visitors and interacting with the public.  As part of the Front Desk Team, he/she contributes to the public perception of the Children’s Receiving Home, both in person at the front desk and over the telephone. He/she maintains a calm, courteous and professional demeanor at all times, regardless of the visitor’s behavior.  As such, the incumbent must be keenly customer-focused in manner and attitude, and be able to assist individuals with a variety of agency related inquiries. The Front Desk Information Counselor maintains a therapeutic demeanor when interfacing with youth. This position comes in contact with confidential information and as such must maintain the agency’s standard of strict confidentiality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Receptionist Duties

  • Answering the Agency’s main telephone line and direct telephone calls accurately.
  • Announce calls as needed/requested.
  • Interact with all customers (clients, donors, families, residents, staff, etc.) in a manner that promotes their feeling of importance to the Agency and present oneself with a professional, courteous, engaging, friendly, informative and customer-focused attitude.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge about the Agency, our history, programs, staff, the auxiliaries and current fundraising and public relations events and programs to answer inquiries.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail in accordance with the daily schedule.
  • Send and distribute faxes as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Child Care Duties

  • Provide the clients with assistance while leaving the facility as well as when they return from off- grounds, and when leaving or returning from off grounds.
  • Provides the following specialized services while maintaining the parental function of safety and supervision of all children in the directed area.
  • Process all necessary documentation related to the release, and leaving of clients in a timely manner.
  • Monitor phone and visiting lists of children, adding and removing names as authorized by County Social Workers.
  • Access control functions for the agency by verifying employee identification, issuing visitor passes, screening visitors prior to calling children for approved visits and/or phone calls, and observing and reporting any unusual or suspicious persons or activities.
  • Perform specific clerical duties subsequent to each act of a child leaving the facility without permission.
  • Calculate and distribute allowances for clients weekly, and when leaving or returning from off grounds.
  • Track and document information related to the transportation of children to and from the agency in a timely manner

Education & Experience:

  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • A minimum of one-year receptionist and/or related customer services or clerical experience is required.
