Light at the End of the Tunnel

Dear Children’s Receiving Home,

I am writing you this letter to thank you for helping me in a time of my life that I needed it the most.

I had come to the Children’s Receiving Home with my brother and sister. You gave us a place to feel safe at, and feel like we could talk about everything that was going on.

The people that worked in the room that I was in were amazing. They made me feel like it wasn’t all my fault, and that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

When I first arrived there I was really scared for myself and my siblings, but it was such a warm and inviting place that the fear quickly faded.

I was 16 when I went there and I am now 30 years old with 3 beautiful little girls, and a wonderful home, and I feel like the support and wisdom that I received from the Children’s Receiving Home helped me become who I am today.

I made a lot of promises to myself while I was in there and decided that I was important and could make something of myself. I am in my 3rd year of collage and am loving it. My brother and sister are also doing well. My brother just finished 8 years in the navy and my sister is on her second year of school.

All three of us are truly grateful that we had a place to feel safe at in a time when we really needed it. Thank you so much!!!

Always,

Emily C.
