Intake Department
Agency Intake Counselors are a specialized
unit within our overall program. They screen, coordinate and review all necessary
information to make the decision about placement on all children referred to us.
Coordination with other departments within the agency is essential and necessary
in this process. Not only are the Intake Counselors required to have knowledge of
our Intake and State Licensing criteria, they also need to understand the current status of our program. To do this, they will work closely with our residential staff to better understand the dynamics of the children currently placed with us. Once
all the necessary information is gathered and reviewed and the child is accepted
into our placement, Intake Counselors will meet with each child to help transition
them into our care.
The Intake Counselors complete an assessment and will spend valuable time with each
child, carefully answering their questions and helping them feel more at ease about
being with us. The Intake Counselors are an extension of the Social Work department
and are under the supervision of our Social Service Manager, who is an LCSW. Each
case is reviewed individually and every effort is made to accept each child into
placement. Our goal is to say yes to children more than we say no.
