The facility is licensed annually by the State Department of Social Services to provide care for 98 children ages 1 to 17. The Children’s Receiving Home is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for the admission of children and serves between 1,200 and 1,800 children a year. Children are in crisis when they are admitted to this facility, and our objective is to be as supportive and constructive as possible during their stay here.

The Residential program provides shelter and supervision as well as activities and emotional support for children in need of emergency shelter. The facility has 10 cottages with Residential Counselors, Residential Supervisors, and Crisis Management Counselors available to assist the children.  Each staff, from the administrators to the direct care staff, is a valuable part of the CRH team.

Our cottages are split by age and gender. Children ages 1 to 5 years are housed in the Acorns Cottages. These cottages were specially designed to house younger, smaller children and have a toddler type setting. Bright colors and decor are visible throughout the entire cottage. Each room has two beds (or cribs).

Girls ages 6 to 17 are housed in our Willows Cottages. There are five Willows Cottages on our campus. Boys ages 6 to 17 are housed in our Oaks Cottages. There are three Oaks Cottages on our campus. Children staying in the Oaks or Willows cottages share a room with no more than one roomate. There are two beds in each room. There are 5 rooms in each cottage as well as restrooms and living rooms. Between every two cottages there is a built in recreation hall. Some of the recreation halls are used for games such as pool, foosball, or air hockey. Other recreation halls have a quieter tone and are filled with couches and books.
"Of all the charities out there, CRH is the most worthwhile. It serves the community in a unique way that just can't be duplicated."
