Point Store Program
The Children's Receiving Home has a long standing, behavioral incentive program called the Point Store. Over the years we have seen it make a big difference in teaching children responsibility, how to help out, and the rewards that come with!
Each child age 6 and older is given the opportunity to earn points by doing chores or helping out. Once a week, or upon release, each child is able to go to the point store and purchase items with the points they've earned throughout the week.
Point Store Items and Needs
As the Point Store is used for children of different ages, items vary and also go quickly! Please view the list below for ideas on what our kids look for in the Point Store:
- Toys for children ages 6 to 12 years
- Acne Care Products of all kinds
Funding
The majority of the operating costs are met through State Foster Care Rates. This is augmented by annual contracts with Sacramento County Children's Protective Services and Department of Mental Health. In addition, some funding is received from the State of California for nutritional needs and for the required physical examinations for school aged children.
As a charitable non-profit agency, the Children's Receiving Home receives community support through tax deductible contributions and donations. This figure amounts for approximately 15% of our annual operating expenses.
