The Charitable Gift Annuity

Doing well for yourself while doing something good of someone else is the essence of "planned giving." Planned gifts can take a variety of forms and can achieve a variety of personal goals, while benefiting your favorite charities.

One of those forms, the Charitable Gift Annuity, has been popular with donors in the United States since the late 1800s.

We are pleased to announce that we have an arrangement with the Sacramento Region Community Foundation (SCRF) that will enable our donors to receive some terrific benefits and ultimately enable us to build our endowment to make sure we can meet the needs we serve into the future.

The benefits of establishing a Charitable Gift Annuity can include:

-Immediate income tax deduction
-Generous fixed income - guaranteed for life
-Reduction in potential estate tax
-No capital gains tax on the transfer & sale of highly-appreciated assets
-Providing a gift to support a cause that you care about
-Peace of mind in knowing your gift will accomplish your goals

SRCF is licensed by the California Department of Insurance to offer Charitable Gift Annuities and make those annuities available to benefit organizations like ours.

Would you like to see a personalized Charitable Gift annuity of your own? The service is free and there is no obligation.

Sample case - Pete and Betty Smith
Pete and Betty Smith have been longtime supporters of the Home. At age 82 and 80, they want to do something significant to support our mission, but are concerned about decreasing their assets and retirement income.

After viewing the information with their tax advisor, they decide to establish a $50,000 charitable gift annuity (CGA) with funds from a recently matured Certificate of Deposit. The CGA pays them a fixed 7.1% - guaranteed for life. In addition, they receive an income tax deduction of over $20,000. Plus, 68% of the income they receive from the CGA is tax-free. And we will ultimately benefit from their generosity at the passing of the last income beneficiary.

By using a Charitable Gift Annuity, the Smiths have helped CRH to help abused and neglected children for years to come. If you would like more information about planned giving or our fund development program, please contact Kelly Henderson at 916.482.2370. To donate, visit the Make a Donation page.
