The CRH Health and Wellness Manager, a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides oversight of our medical and nutritional programs.  A contracted Pediatrician provides physical exams on a weekly basis in our clinic for the Child Health and Disability prevention Program (CHDP) and to address any medical concerns that may arise. CRH participates in the California Immunization Information Registry (CAIR) and Vaccines for Children program. Appointments are scheduled for follow up with primary care physicians, dentists, and optometrists to ensure that youth receive the best medical care while in our care.

In addition CRH has two contracted psychiatrists who provide psychiatric evaluation and medication support to those youth requiring this level of service who meet medical necessity and are eligible through MediCal.

In July of 2010, CRH implemented the Sacramento County CPS HEARTS for Kids Program in collaboration with Sacramento County CPS and Public Health Departments and BEAR Care Clinic.  The Health Exams Assessments Referrals Treatment Services (HEARTS) for Kids program offers medical, dental and developmental screenings to children in foster care as well as mental health services. Funding for this program is provided by the First 5 Sacramento Commission which uses Proposition 10 (tobacco tax) funds to support healthy development of children ages zero to five.

Recognizing the important connection between a healthy diet and a youth’s ability to learn and achieve, CRH has implemented an active Nutrition Program which includes nutritional education, nutritional menu choices and a campus garden.  The education provided is age and culturally appropriate and integrated into all aspects of the youth’s life while living at CRH. Youth participate in the planting, tending and harvesting of the campus garden in addition to menu planning via contests and a food suggestion box.

"Of all the charities out there, CRH is the most worthwhile. It serves the community in a unique way that just can't be duplicated."
