Valley Oaks School
Valley Oaks School is a fully accredited public school located on site at the Children’s Receiving Home and is part of the San Juan Unified School District. Assessment and diagnosis in the school portion of the CRH program is offered through a successful and rewarding educational program of uniquely tailored instruction. It is an atypical educational setting with the main goal being to provide a continuum of schooling for each school age child.
Valley Oaks provides the students with a curriculum specifically designed to meet State educational standards and each child’s Individual educational needs. The school-individualized instruction is crucial to meet the wide range of abilities seen at CRH.
Classrooms are divided into cluster grades ranging from first grade through twelfth. The teaching staff assesses each child shortly after their entry to CRH. The assessment tool parallels the State’s educational standards in math, reading, language arts, and writing skills. This tool pinpoints the student’s achievements and abilities in the educational window. Valley Oaks School allows the children a stable environment that meets all children’s education needs. Each child is assessed according to their individual abilities, earns credits while here, and the educational diagnosis gathered her follows the child to whichever setting they may go to after leaving CRH.
