Purpose
The basic mission of the Receiving Home provides hope and healing for children and
their families who suffer from the effects of abuse and neglect. The children that
reside here have been abused, molested, neglected, abandoned, or have families who
are otherwise unable to provide for them. The children in the program are all under
the auspices of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Superior Court.
Most of the children are brought here by law enforcement at the request of Child
Protective Services, and for the majority of the children, it is the first time
they have been removed from their home. After treatment, children leave the facility
to return home, go to relatives, foster homes, or residential centers.
